MIM Triple Play

This week's MIM sponsoredf by PTI is called "A La Carte". Nicole provided a summary of all 46 videos posted in 2011. The challenge is to pick one of the weekly posts one did not get a chance to play along with and to create a card/project using that technique or tutorial.
My daughter's brother-in-law graduated with his Masters Degree in December. Given the hustle & bustle of the holiday, making a congratulation card was put on the back burner. When the Lock & Key set was released in December, I knew this would be the perfect stamp set. Since I didn't have a stamp with the image of a book, I knew I wanted to use some type of text on the card.
Now I am not an overachiever trying to combine 3 techniques in 1 card. It just turned out that way. I never had the opportunity to enter a card for MIM # 13 Ipression Plate Tricks 2,  because I didn't have a blog at the time.  However, I did try this technique & loved it. I made a Christmas card  using an IP with a die.
I just love how the woodgrain IP lends such a masculine look to a card. So I paired it up with the mat stack #1 die which I find to be very versatile.

Because I wanted to add some color to the woodgrain impression I used the MIM # 38 Brayer & IP Technique.  I had used this technique before with this card..   MIM #10 Masking with dies was not a technique I used before, so I was eager to try it with the mat stack #1 die. I propped the key up doubling the dimensional. I guess I could have included a 4th technique if I had made the key with chipboard. (hehe)

Overall, I am happy with this card. However, if I were to redo it, I would stamp the text in black vs the sepia I used.  I can't wait until PTI releases their chocolate ink.
Thank you for stopping by. Tomorrow I have a card using Mojo Monday's latest sketch.

Supplies: CS: Stampers Select White, Kraft
Stamps: Lock & Key
Ink: Memories: sepia
Dies: Lock & Key, Mat Stack #1
IP: Woodgrain
Other: PTI ribbon: Ocean Tides, dimensionals

Wow--what an awesome card, and so many MIM techniques. There should be a prize for that. It also looks so very masculine! Gotta love those masculine cards.

3 in 1! You definitely made it work! the distressed look the IP gives it and you're right, the woodgrain does make it look quite masculine!

Love this, Carol! You are so clever to make three techniques in one, too! The key is a perfect embellishment for a man's card.
