MIM # 71 Bordered Sentiments

School's out,  wedding is over, Florida vacation is a memory. Ahhh, life is returning to normal. That means I have time to participate in PTI's  Make-it-Monday # 71: Bordered Sentiments.  I knew I wanted a rather large sentiment so I chose the one in Harvest Berries and decided to use the ginko leaves from that set as well.

I still have not mastered the technique of background stamping. I had no problem with the background above the sentiment.  However, the background I created below the sentiment was not to my liking. I used the Sweet Blush bitty dot paper to cover it up. I also did not like the two black lines I had drawn above/below the sentiment so I used ribbon to mask them. Still not happy with the card, I put it aside and when I awoke this morning I decided to add the little ribbon.
A little bit better, but still not a card I like.  If I have time later in the week, I think I'll try my hand at this challenge again. Perhaps I'll have more success. thanks for taking a peek.

you're cracking me up - i wasn't satisfied with my straight version of the challenge either. I wish i'd seen what the bg stamping you did was but i really like this combo of the leaves and the sweet blush bitty dot together - and very much like the ribbon with it - and with that beautiful sentiment - so sue me LOL

--Eek--I made a MIM card this afternoon, using exactly that sentiment and stamp set! What are the odds. I hope to get mine posted tomorrow. Mine is supposed to be masculine. I love your pink and brown version--one of my favorite color combos.

I can associate with the challenge of getting the background just right, but I think it turned out perfect just the way it is! I adore your color scheme! :)

Too cute...love that you and Joyce are on the same wave length with your cards. So beautiful with the pink polka dots and black ribbon, such a classy look.

Think you're too critical of yourself, Carol, but then sometimes we do to that ourselves. Love you admitting that you had to cover up your dislike with patterned paper. Thanks for your kind comment regarding my MIM card ~ appreciate it!
