Christmas Pointsettias

I've been trying to find some crafting time since we've returned from our mini vacation to Asheville, NC so I could participate in this week's challenge over at Merry Monday. I just love this sketch.

  Here's my interpretation.

The pointsettia is stamped in Autumn Rose and Scarlet Jewel. I used my Copics to color the gems.

I was hoping I would get this card done in time before the Inlinkz closed. Yeah! I made it. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

Festiv Friday Element challenge: Tree

Back again with another Christmas card for Festive Friday's element challenge.

  Here's my take:

The images and sentiments are from PTI's  Peaceful Poinsettia. I heat embossed the sentiment with gold and tied a gold cord under the panel.

As I was embossing, I realized I could submit this card for Pti's June Blog Hop since the challenge this month is to add a touch of gold.  I am not too happy with the way the cord is sticking up.  Any suggestions besides snipping the tails a tad shorter??

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

PTI Blog Hop: June 2013

A quick post before I leave for a mini-vacation to Asheville North Carolina to tour the Biltmore Estate and do some hiking in search of the many waterfalls in this area. Didn't want to miss out on this month's PTI's blog hop though.

June-Blog-Hop

I must admit that I wasn't too thrilled when I saw the challenge since I am not a fan of gold. But, a touch of gold I can do!

I was inspired by the colors in the inspirational photo. Having received the newly released Repeated Rounds stamp set, I was itching to use it. I brushed gold metallic ink in the center of each figure and stamped the sentiment with it too.
Thanks for stopping by to take a peek. I will have to catch up with all the submissions when I get home later in the week. Enjoy the Blog Hop!

With Sympathy

I just love the MIM challenge this week: Colored Vellum Flowers that I made a 2nd card.  It's been a couple of weeks since I played along with a challenge from Retrosketches so I decided to use this sketch.

I used Lemon Tart as my base color for the Dahlia. Then I used Orange Zest. However, it looks more like Canyon Clay. That is why I stamped the sentiment form Botanical Silhouettes in Canyon Clay. I still think it looks beautiful.

I will be sending this card to my step-aunt who lost her 42 year old granddaughter to hantavirus.. She has been having a rough year as she lost her husband (my uncle) in January. Her son-in-law has stage 4 prostrate cancer and has been declining rapidly.
Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

MIM: Colored Vellum Flowers

I had this design in mind for the challenge this week at Festive Friday

However, after viewing the MIM video: Colored Vellum Flowers, I decided to try this with the holly die from Holly Jolly.

Two things I would do differently with this card:
    1. Edge the Vintage Cream card stock. ( I had intended to and remembered after I attached the panel to the base)
   2.  Prop the holly up with some dimensional tape.

Here's a close up shot of the colored vellum holly.

I used the Linen and canvas IP.

A CAS Father's Day Card

After about two hours of fiddling around with this paper:

I am embarrassed to say this is the card I ended up with.

I began by using this week's sketch from Retrosketches, but couldn't make it work. After lots of fiddling and faddling, I decided to cut those little fishies out. My husband loves to fish and recently came back from a week long fishing trip.

A Special Dad

Internet problems have kept me from posting the past few days. I love technology, but when there's a problem, it's not ususally a quick fix. A big thanks to my husband who installed a new modem and spent the entire day on the phone with our internet supplier. Here's a card I made for my son-in-law for Father's Day. I used the sketch from Freshly Made, but wasn't able to submit it.

  The sentiment is computer generated.

Here's a close-up shot of the banners cut from a vellum print.

I am submitting this to the Cas-ual Friday challenge which is to use banners andor flags on your creations.

Peace, Love & Joy

It's been a couple of weeks since I participated in one of the Christmas card challenges. But when I saw this sketch

for this week's Merry Monday challenge, I thought I would be able to make a card quickly. My goal was to do it in ten minutes after I had selected my stamps and colors.  Well, forty-five minutes later, this is what I ended up with.

Here's an up close shot of the ribbon, bling and holly.

I really love this sketch and the way the card turned out. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

Birthday Banners

When I saw the video for this week's MIM: Flagged borders, I knew I would have to make time to join in.   I decided to use the palette from this week's colourQ challenge

I wanted my card to be different from the one Dawn did in the video. I had an idea to hang small banners from the Wonderful Words: birthday.  The rest of the card just evolved from there.

I stamped the presents from BB:Birthday Fun in Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores. Then I  fussy cut the Hawaiian Shore ones and adhered them with foam dots to add some dimension.

I used Glitter Ritz: Kiwi on the Wonderful Word: Birthday.

I am really pleased how this turned out. Thank you for stopping by to take a peek.

Go Yankees!

My brother-in-law is a BIG Yankee fan.  When I saw this banner by Lizzie Jones I knew I had to make one for him. The Yankee colors are a very dark navy blue and white. Gray is also listed as a color.

Here are some up close shots of each panel. The baseball is embossed with the Linen IP to give some texture which didn;t show up in the photo.

I drew the pin stripes. After all that is a big part of the Yankee uniform. I searced all over for pin striped paper and couldn't find any.
The bats were cut from wood printed paper and the grips were wrapped with silk ribbon. I used my Wishblade to cut the letters,

I am submitting this to  Simon Says Stamps Challenge:Masculine/Father's Day. Baseball is definitely masculine. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

Belated Birthday Card

It's been a year since I retired. Yet, I still don't have time to squeeze an hour or two to spend in my craft room. When I do find the time lately, it is usually working on the invitations for my niece's wedding in December.
I have spent the last week remodeling one of the bedrooms. The walls were in such bad shape, I had to sand, spackle and re-sand some spots 7-8 times. I'm in the home stretch with just some minor touch ups.
I made a belated birthday card for my teenage niece using this week's sketch from Retrosketches.

This also fits the challenge for Casology

.
