PTI January Blog Hop

Just a quick post for Pti's January Blog Hop.  The challenge this month is to create a card using only pink.

January-Blog-Hop
My card was inspired by the pillow. I also wanted to use the new die so I could stitch my hearts together.

An up close shot.

Merry Monday: Colors & a Ribbon

I quickly made this card before heading out to the warm island of St.Martin for the week. Looks like I picked a good week to be gone with the freezing temps this week. This card was made for this week's Merry Monday challenge which is to add ribbon to a card with red, vanilla Kraft & chocolate.

Here's an up close shot of the rustic wreath. I cut two and placed them on top of each other.

Festive Friday 2014

This is my first post for Festive Friday this new year. They have a beautiful inspirational photo.

Here's my take.
The allegation background was inspire by the barn.  I chose this stained glass image based upon baby Jesus being born in a stable. The coloring was based upon this image
Done by Nicole.

Merry Monday

We're back to having very cold temperatures today.  Seems like next week is going to get even colder.  I guess it is a perfect time to make a Christmas card. The challenge this week at Merry Monday is very apropos. It is to use snow people or a snowman on a Christmas project.  Since I really don't have a snowman stamp other than the die from PTI, I decided to create my own snowman using scallopped circles.

I made the hat from paper scraps and used part of a stamp from PTI's 2012 Birthday tags for the scarf. The paper is something I picked up after Christmas from Michaels.

I really like how this card turned out. The bright colors make is so merry; perfect for Christmas, don't you think?  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

Retrosketch # 97

I have another Valentine card. I used the sketch from challenge # 97 of Retrosketches.

I really love the clean and simple design.

Here's an upclose shot of the heart. I am disappointed in how the embossing came out. I actually did it twice. Both times the embossing was spotty. I even bought new white embossing powder since the one I had was old.

Overall, I am happy with this card. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

PS> It is amazing how sun makes all the difference when taking a photo.  Too bad we don't have more sunny days in winter.

Celebrating DH's Birthday

Today is my husband's birthday. We had our family celebration on Sunday. Tonight we will go out for a bite to eat.  Here's the card I made him.

The Background Builder stamp: Birthday Fun is one of my favorite birthday stamps. It's hard to see, but I fussy cut the presents stamped in Enchanted Evening and propped them up with dimensionals.

Cas-ual Friday: In a Word

Here's a very simplistic card I'm submitting for the current challenge at Cas-ual Fridays.

Instead of a resolution, one is to choose a word that describes what one hopes for in the New Year. I'm totally blessed because I am surrounded by my loved ones. I hope the New Year continues to be filled with love.

Sorry for the poor photograph. It's been raining. Winter & rain equals poor quality photos for my blog. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

Seize The Sketch

This is my first time to participatr in a challenge called Seize the Sketch.  When I saw the sketch, I had no problem figuring out what stamps or dies I would use. I even had the colors pictured in my mind.

 Here's my take.

Isn't that owl just adorable? the hearts on his chest are felt. I had a close up shot of him, but somehow deleted it. Love his googly eyes. Do you think I need to add a sentiment under the owl? Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

Merry Monday 2014

January 2014 and Merry Monday already has their first Challenge up for the year. I am determined to play along each week in 2014. The challenge is an easy one: to use ribbon or twine on your Christmas card.

This sketch probably looks familiar as it is the one at Retrosketches # 96.

Birthday tag for MIM

Here;s my 2nd entry for PTI's MIM: Multiple Layers Using a Single Stamp. My husband is celebrating his birthday a week from today. We will gather as a family for Sunday dinner. I decided to use this technique to create a tag for one of his birthday presents.

I used some of the same colors that I used for his birthday card: Aqua Mist and Enchanted Evening and added Ocean Tides and Blueberry Sky.
 An upclose shot.

Be Mine: A Duo Challenge

Just a quick post today for a card I made that qualifies for the challenges being hosted by Retrosketches and PTI's MIM: Multiple Layers Using One Stamp.

This is the fantastic sketch this week at Retrosketches.

This is my 2nd submission for the Retrosketches challenge, but I put a twist on it. I love how it turned out.

The Valentine from With All My Heart was stamped in Raspberry Fizz, Hibiscus Burst and  Pure Poppy to create the layers.

Two Valentine cards down, ten more to go. At least I have about three weeks until I need to mail them. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

Retro sketches # 96

It's been awhile since I participated in the challenges at Retrosketches. But when I saw the latest sketch I knew I had to play along.

Using the Limitless Layer Valentine and stamp set With All My Heart immediately came to mind.
Here's my take.

I just wish I had placed the XOX on the hibiscus burst instead of between the two colors. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

Bah Humbug 2013

Bah Humbug! That's my brother-in-law's favorite expression during the holiday season.  Of course it is said in jest with a wry smile.  Through the years I have bought him a couple of Bah humbug items when I happen to venture upon one.  However, every year I do make him a bah humbug card which I know he looks forward to receiving .  Here are my cards from the two previous years: 2011 and 2012.

My brother-in-law didn't think he was getting one this year as I actually made it in November, stuck it in a closet and only came upon it the 18th of December.  I told him I had been too busy making his daughter's wedding and shower invitatons and favors. He actually received it the day his daughter got married.

Bah Humbug 2013!

I hope you aren't offended by the inside.

He loved the card. Thought it was the best one yet.  When my sister saw the outside she commented it didn't look like a bah humbug card. She laughed when she read the inside. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

My First Christmas Card for 2014!

I am determined not to make the majority of my Christmas cards in Nov/Dec this year. I thought I was in good shape making some cards throughout the year, only to discover in November that I had only made 25 out of 65, roughly 1/3.
At first I thought I was burned out making Christmas cards, but since most of my Christmas papers and stamps are still strewn about, I thought the technique from PTI's MIM: Angled Backgrounds would be a perfect way to use up some of my scraps.

MIM # 146 Angled Background

Happy New Year!  I'm joining in my first challeng of the year with PTI's MIM's challenge: Angled Backgrounds. I just love how you can use scraps of paper to create stunning backgrounds. One just has to find enough coordinating scraps.
Since my great niece is turning 6 this week, I thought I would make a birthday card for her using this technique. Her favorite color is yellow, so I tried to incorporate as much yellow as possible into the card.

I used some more die cuts inside to liven it up a little.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek. If you have some crafting time this week, join in the fun as this technique is great and easy too!
