This week's MIM sponsoredf by PTI is called "A La Carte". Nicole provided a summary of all 46 videos posted in 2011. The challenge is to pick one of the weekly posts one did not get a chance to play along with and to create a card/project using that technique or tutorial.
My daughter's brother-in-law graduated with his Masters Degree in December. Given the hustle & bustle of the holiday, making a congratulation card was put on the back burner. When the Lock & Key set was released in December, I knew this would be the perfect stamp set. Since I didn't have a stamp with the image of a book, I knew I wanted to use some type of text on the card.
Now I am not an overachiever trying to combine 3 techniques in 1 card. It just turned out that way. I never had the opportunity to enter a card for
MIM # 13 Ipression Plate Tricks 2, because I didn't have a blog at the time. However, I did try this technique & loved it. I made a
Christmas card using an IP with a die.
I just love how the woodgrain IP lends such a masculine look to a card. So I paired it up with the mat stack #1 die which I find to be very versatile.
Because I wanted to add some color to the woodgrain impression I used the
MIM # 38 Brayer & IP Technique. I had used this technique before with
this card..
MIM #10 Masking with dies was not a technique I used before, so I was eager to try it with the mat stack #1 die. I propped the key up doubling the dimensional. I guess I could have included a 4th technique if I had made the key with chipboard. (hehe)
Overall, I am happy with this card. However, if I were to redo it, I would stamp the text in black vs the sepia I used. I can't wait until PTI releases their chocolate ink.
Thank you for stopping by. Tomorrow I have a card using Mojo Monday's latest sketch.
