Decorations for a Fairy Birthday party

  Last month, my granddaughter celebrated her 5th birthday. She wanted a fairy party. Luckily I had a fairy stamp to use for her invitations. Being a lover of the colors purple & pink, her invitations looked like this.

   I precut the scalloped circles. After I stamped the image in Versamark, she sprinkled on the glitter. You should have seen her eyes as the fairy magically appeared right before her eyes. She & her mom assembled the invites when she went back home.

I always make a banner for my granddaughters'birthdays. Here is the one I made for the fairy party.

 Of course I kept the same colors as the invitations.  I used doilies as the background.  However, I ran out half way through and when I went to replenish my supply, I couldn't find the same pattern. SoI alternated the doilies.

This year I made welcome signs for the birthday parties. While browsing through Michaels one day, I found this piece of wood. It made a fantastic sign in keeping with the fairy theme. I used stickers for the message.

This is the garland I made to hang by the fireplace.

I usually make paper garland.  However, this time I decided to use the left over flowers I purchased to make the fairy head pieces.  You can check out the fairy crowns  from a previous post.

 One of the activities the girls did was to make fairy gardens. My daughter painted the houses as she didn't want her kitchen painted pink & purple by 5 year olds.  Aren't these darling?

They are all so serious!

A fairy Crown

My granddaughter celebrated her 5th birthday last week. She had a Fairy Birthday party on Saturday. I made 7 of the fairy crowns for all the little girls who came to her party.

As I was perusing all the blogs from PTI's September Blog Hop, it dawned on me that I could submit this fairy crown to the challenge as I used the green leaf ribbon from PTI.

More Minnie Mouse Decorations!

  Here's my granddaughter Lilly wearing the Minnie Mouse ears I made for her party.

 In fact, I made a total of twenty Minnie/Mickey Mouse ears using this tutorial from The Subuurban Mom.

I even had ears for the adults!  What fun everyone had wearing them.

                                                       

  I made a centerpiece for the table, but forgot to take a picture. Here's a peek of it cropped fron another photo. I sprayed some styrofoam balls.

I cut out some different sizes of Minnie Mouse bows to make garland.  Too bad my daughter hung them up side down.

                                                 

I wrapped the gifts in pink paper and added circle stickers to mimic Minnie's bow.

                                                  

I added the same white dots to the pink balloons but you can barely see them in the picture.

Birthday Decorations

     On Saturday, my granddaughter celebrated her up coming 4th birthday with a party.  Being a girl turning four, it had to be a princess party of course!  Being a crafty grandma, I had to make her a banner.

  Here is an up close shot.

   My favorite part of the banner was the crown panels. The crown was cut using the Cricut Princess Party Cartridge. I used my Copics to color the gems.

   Normally, I make party hats, but one day while shopping at the dollar store I found these crowns.

How could one pass up a bargain like this!  Besides I knew my granddaughter would prefer these crowns to some paper ones. 

Now every princess needs a personalized banner!  Right? So I created this one.

 When my granddaughter saw it she told me it was   "BEAUUUUTIFUL". (I am not sure her parents liked it as they do not want her called "princess".)

       It was a great party. All the little girls came dressed up in their princess outfits. When they arrived they received their crown and a wand. Here's my little princess!

Celebration

Sunday was my husband's birthday. He entered a new decade: the 60's. That sounds old, but he is still young at heart & very active. We had a family dinner. Of course one can't have a party without a banner. Using my Wishblade I cut triangles out of  Scarlet Jewel cs &  My Mind's Eye: Playground Stripes.  The letters were cut using Lemon Tart cs.

Since I have two young granddaughters, they love to wear party hats. I made these.

Somehow, I was successful enlarging a black & white high school  picture from his senior year. Once I printed it out, I used a template to make the hat.  The little pom pom is made from some silver ribbon, I had in my stash.

I wasn't sure how my husband would react to the party hat, but he loved it.  So did everyone else in the family.

Last but not least, a party needs goodie bags. This is what I came up with.

I used the same pattern paper on the banner.  I stamped the # 60 using Tim Holts's distressed ink: Peeled Paint.  A close up shot.

Purple Ladybugs

     My 3 year old granddaughter celebrated her 3rd birthday this month.  The theme for her birthday party was ladybugs.... not just any ladybugs, but PURPLE ladybugs. (In case you haven't figured it out, purple is her favorite color.)  She and her mom made invitations in the shape of purple ladybugs.  I made the rest of the decorations for the party.

    Let it be known that I am a purist.  The thought of purple ladybugs was incomprehensible to me. I originally was going to make all the decorations red.  However, when she overheard me talking to her mother, she said, "No Grandma, I don't want red ladybugs. Purple."  Being a grandma, I couldn't resist her wishes, so I caved in. 

  During my search of a variety of website for party ideas, I came across an idea of a lollipop wrapped in tissue paper with black spots on it.  Since I never tagged it, I wasn't able to relocte it.  Luckily for me the idea was so simple, I was able to reproduce it. I just used a Sharpie for the black dots that I randomly placed on a double layer of 4 x 4 purple tissue paper.  The original idea used black pipe cleaners to secure the tissue paper.  However, since I did not have any black pipe cleaners when I began this project, I used some purple jute I had in my stash.  These went in the goody bags.  Of course I made enough for all the adults too!

                    

     The next thing I made was a Happy 3rd Birthday banner.  Below is a picture of only part of the banner.  The entire banner was too long to get a good photo of.  I really liked how it turned out.  It was so cute. The ladybugs looked soooo cute in purple.

  I wanted something different for the table.  I took the biggest Nestie I had, and made a medallion to resemble a flower.  I used one of the flower fusion dies as my center and added a purple ladybug on each side.  I had these mini clay flower pots that I used for the base. I stuck a piece of syrofoam inside and used a wooden BBQ skewer for the stem.

Altogether I made 3 flowers  to spread out along  the main table.

 Of course no party is complete without party hats.  Keeping the theme of purple ladybugs, this is what I created. I got the idea from here.

  The birthday girl had her own special hat.(In purple of course with 3 purple ladybugs crawling all over the # 3.) 



 

  The last minute I decided to make chocolate covered pretzel ladybugs.  I lucked out and got the last batch of purple melties at Michaels.  My chocolate covered pretzels did not look like any of those on Pinterest, but I can tell you they were the hit of the party.  Each person got to take home 2 pretzels in a glassine bag. (I ran out of time to decorate them).   I set out a tray of chocolate covered ladybug pretzels when the cake was being served. They were gone in no time. 

  Now some of you are thinking I might have carried the purple ladybug idea too far when you see how I wrapped my granddaughter's birthday presents.  The black dots were made with my Wishblade and taped on the gift randomly.

   The other gift was wrapped with white paper stamped with the large ladybug image from PTI's Little Lady.
I only stamped the side of the paper that was to be the top of the present.  The purple ink I used was light and did not photograph well.
