Gift Bag

Yesterday I posted an All Occasion Card set I gave to my daughter's mother-in-law for her birthday. How I wish I had the Handmade Stationary Stamp set being released tomorrow by PTI. It surely adds a nice touch to a gift bag.

This is the gift bag I made for the card set. Since I don't own the Front & Center die, I made it myself using one of the edgers die #4 and an oval Coluzzle. I used the same flower created from the Lovely Layer stamp set used on the cards.

Since I am trying to spread my love with all the dies I own, I added the bow from the Loopy Daisy Die.
Thanks for stopping by.

A Tisket, A Tasket, An Easter Basket!

This is a simple Easter basket to make using a 12 by 12 piece of pattern paper. To begin cut 2 four inch deep lines at 4" and 8". Repeat on opposite side.

Step 2:  Using a second piece of 12 by 12 matching paper, cut two 12 by 1 inch strips.  To make the handle sturdier, repeat step 2 using card stock. Trim off two inches from one of the pieces of card stock and one from the pattern paper.  (Sorry for the poor quality of the picture)

Glue the card stock and pattern paper together. To make the handle attach the two 1" strips together. Lay aside.
Step 3:   Fold the middle section of the 12 by 12 pattern paper so it is standing upright.
Step 4: Lift the corners of the left and right side towards the folded middle piece overlapping the two outer sides.. Punch a hole through all three layers. Insert one side of the handle between the two outer layers and the middle layer. Secure with a brad.  It should look like this.

    Repeat with other side.

Decorate top of handle where the two pices meet with a bow or flower.  I used the Loopy Bow die for my basket.
Once again the completed basket filled.

Believe me, the directions seem complicated, but this basket is very easy to assemble.  Without the bow, it should take no more than 15 minutes.  I did add a 3/8" strip to the inside edges of the basket ( before I assemble it) because there was print on one of the sides.
I make these type of baskets for my adult children and fill them with just some small treats. The best thing is you can un-assemble the basket and reuse it next year, especially if the "kids" are only interested in the treats. (You have to remember where you put it too! LOL)
Thanks for looking!

MIM #48 Creating Backgrounds with Border Dies

It seems like forever since my last post. ( Monday 1/9) But I have been busy with a birthday project for my husband. His birthday is today. The minute I saw the title for this week's MIM, I knew I wanted to try it.  However, I had too many things I was already making for my husband's upcoming birthday. So the MIM card I had in mind kept getting pushed on the back burner.

Lo & behold last night I had an idea. I would kill tow birds with one stone. Use this technique on the gift bag I was making for my husband and still be able to submit it on time for MIM.

I used the PTI Edger's #4 to create my own front & center die. The vine leaf border die was cut from My Mind's Eye Pattern Paper: Playground Stripes. I used my Zigzag glue pen to glue the vines down on Scarlet Jewel cardstock before I cut the oval handle using my Coluzzle.(I can wait to see if the oval from the Limitless Layers I ordered tonight will work instead)

I used Mat Stack 1 along with a sentiment from Say It With Style. The bow was made with the same pattern paper using the small Loopy Daisy Die. Finally, I was able to use a large button from my Scarlet Jewel stash of PTI buttons. This bag really looks beautiful in person. I liked how it turned out
Stop by tomorrow and I'll show you the project I was working on that made it into this little bag.

PTI Blog Hop December 2011

I hope you had a great holiday. I was fortunate to celebrate it with my children & their families on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day my husband & I drove upt o Chicago to celebrate Christmas with his mom, 7 brother & sisters and their families.  It has been a whirlwind weekend.  Since we only got back from Chicago about 2 hrs ago, I quickly gathered up some scraps of wrapping paper & a dimensional from a Christmas Card I received to create a simple bow using the Loopy Daisy die in order to particpate in PTI"s
December Blog Hop

Looks like I could have done a better job spreading out the loops. That's what I get for being in a hurry.
Nevertheless, it's still a cute bow.  I already have one crafty Christmas item ready for Christmas 2012.  That's a first. LoL
I am also going to participate in the  Snowman Challenge sponsered by Craft Your Days Away.
Thanks for checking out my blog.
