Valentine's Day 2016

Sunday, Feb 14, 2016

Happy Valentine's Day! Just a quick post of two Valentine cards I made for my granddaughters.  They both love butterflies so when I saw a coloring page of a butterfly made from hearts, I decided to make a card.

Can you tell what their favorite colors are?  Here's the sentiment I generated with my computer. (Sorry for the blurriness as I am still not good taking pictures with my new  phone.)

Since the cue word at Casology this week is:

I am submitting this post.

Peace

I just love the element theme this week for the challenge at Festive Friday, a two week challenge to motivate one to create Christmas cards throughout the year.

This is my 2nd submission. Not only was it a quick card to make, but also a flat, easy to mail card.

The heart was cut from Glitter card stock I got at Michaels. The sentiment is from Beautiful Blessings: Holiday.

MIM # 108 Inked Backgrounds

Found some time today to play along with PTI's MIM: Inked Backgrounds. Heather demonstrated how to create beautiful backgrounds using a variety of colors. I have always admired cards that had these backgrounds. Whenever I tried, mine looked horrible. Using a variety of hues with a main color and adding an accent seems to be the trick.

I basically used 3 shades of green for my background: Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse and  Peeled Paint. I was too chicken to add some pink for fear that I would mess up what I already had.

I love the way the roses turned out. The picture doesn't do them justice. I used Sweet Blush as a base, with Hibiscus Burst. The top layer was Orange Zest which I stamped off first to just give a touch of the orange.

Since it has been ages since I used my dress form die, I decided to add it to the card.

 The inside sentiment.

PTI Design Team Inspiration

In celebration of PTI's 6th anniversary, the design team show cased six of their favorite cards. The challenge is to select a card for inspiration to  create your own.
Since Valentine's Day is Thursday, I thought it best that this should be the theme of my card. I used the butterfly card (lower left corner) from Christina for my inspiration.

Cristina

I used the Flourishes Stamp Sset and two different die from the the Heart to Heart series.

The sentiment is from With All My Heart.

I think I am going to use this card for my anniversary which is a week after Valentine's Day.
 Thanks for taking a peek.

MIM: #99 Repeats and Rainbows

When I saw the card Nichole made with the rainbow scallop and glitter for this week's MIM, I knew I wanted to create a repeating rainbow card. I chose the rainbow color scheme #4 because I thought I would make this card for my granddaughter, Oliva, who just happens to love the color purple.

This card took quite a long time because I practiced lining up the hearts on scrap paper 3-4 times before I actually got it looking semi balanced. If you look closely, you'll see that I used the Canvas/Linen Impression Plate. (I got the idea from Joyce after seeing her card.)

The sentiment stamp is from  the newly released From All My Heart. I think I will give this card to my daughter for Valentine's day instead of my granddaughter.

Framed!

On the PTI forum, Danielle Flanders started a thread for a November holiday card challenge. The goal is to make a holiday card a day during the month of November. Good intentions I did have. Problem was it took me 2 days to make my first card. I had the sketch in my head, but had a difficult time picking out the colors I wanted to use.

I just love those diagonal stripes made with the newly released Super Stripe set by PTI.. Just perfect for a Christmas card. The background pattern paper is from Teresa Collins' Christmas Cottage collection
I was going to put this in the dynamic duos challenge until I noticed the tad of orange in the snowman's nose. Oh well. Thanks for stopping by.

Halloween

I made this card a month ago because I wanted to submit it for the Retrosketch # 23 challenge.

Turned out that the sensor on my camera went bad. It took me about a month to find a camera I liked.  That's why I am only posting this card now.

I used Kryon webbing spray to create the background. The images are from all old rubber stamps in my stash. The black border was made using PTI's heart border die.

One good thing about posting this today is I can submit it to PTI"S Mr. Bones' Spook Out. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

Stamp-A-Faire : Card Camp Set

Gosh there were so many pretty card sets to choose from in this challenge. I had a difficult time choosing between the one Danielle and Betsy made. Danielle's won out, but I will be making Betsy's set for sure.  This took a little bit longer than expected because after I cut out the half & half shape, the inside was not smooth due to the cuts in the cutting plate. So I decided to line the dies with Sweet Blush.

I made a total of 8 cards; two each of  thank you, birthday, sympathy, thinking of you. I used sentimensts from a variety of stamp sets. My felt embellishments also included the small flower from  beautiful blooms. (which I accidentally left out when I took my photo.)

In some of the cards,Ialso stamped a sentiment on the inside.

My only concern is the size of these cards. I have to find envelopes. In addition, the envelopes might not be mailable due to size. So I am thinking I might cut a panel, emboss it and attach the mini card.. Until I make my final decision on the envelope, I will have to wait to make a holder for them.
