PTI Anniversary Challenge: Day 1 Sketches

February 6th, 2018
Yesterday was day 1 of PTI's 11th anniversary celebration. To kick off the celebration, the design team was introduced. Each member of the design team picked one of their favorite projects from last year and created a sketch to go with it, Of course, the challenge was to create a project using one of the sketches provided.
I just love the work of Melissa Phillips. She is one of my favorite designers. I try to replicate her work at times, but I don't do her justice.  Here is her favorite pick.

Be Strong Card by Melissa Phillips for Papertrey Ink (March 2017)

This is her sketch, followed by my creation.

I pretty much used her color combinations. I added diagonal score lines on the Aqua Mat; however, they are not visible in the photo. They really added some texture and depth to the card. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

PTI Make It Monday Challenge: Using Different Papers.

I must say the challenge this week at PTI's Make It Monday is really pushing me out of my comfort zone. The challenge is to use different types of papers. Since I am not very creative and didn't want to use a pattern paper as one of my papers, I pretty much followed Stephanie's card.

I had found some left over Christmas note pad paper and did some cutting to fit my needs. I used die cuts from Holiday greens and  just a tad of tissue paper.  The card looks a bit vintage in real life. Not sure if I like it since it's not my style. Definitely different.

Make-It-Monday #272 Masked Heart Wreaths

It's been awhile since I participated in a challenge. When I saw the beautiful card created by Melissa Phillips for this weeks Make-it-Monday challenge I knew I had to participate. Besides, I need 2 more Valentine cards.

Most of my images came from Garden Gild with some leaf images from Garden Grace. Since I never bought the dies for Big Hugs, I had to settle for stamping the sentiment.

PTI Blog Hop: February 2015

My blog continues to be neglected. Not much crafting going on lately. Instead I have been spending time away from the cold cruising the Caribbean.  Now that I'm back I thought I would make a quick card for this month's Bog Hop at PTI.  The challenge is to create something based upon the inspiration photo below.

Blog Hop Inspiration

My background was created using a stencil and inks on glossy paper. I'm still learning how to use my MISTI (most incredible stamp tool invented) with die cuts. It worked perfectly doing selective stamping with the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek. I'm volunteering at our hospital's gift shop, so I'l be blog hopping this evening. Enjoy!

Yankee Birthday Card: 2014

My brother-in-law is an avid Yankee fan. Every year I try to make him a special birthday card. Here is the one I made him this year.
I just love the diagonal coverplate. Makes card making so fast. Since I heat embossed the glove with clear embossing powder, I am submitting this for PTI's Blog Hop where the theme is high gloss. I originally put some glossy accents on the ball that is in the glove, but the red ink ran, so I replaced it with a non glossy ball. Here's the sentiment for my inside in which I did a lot of selective inking.

A Merry Monday Color Challenge

A short post for a card I was able to quickly make for the 100th challenge at Merry Monday. The inspiration

I chose to focus on the untraditional color combination. I had this stamped tree already in my stash. With the diagonal coverplate, this card came together in minutes.

Retrosketches: 100th Sketch

Just a quick post.
Today I'm posting a card (of course in the last hours ) for the 100th sketch for Retrosketches.

 Here's my take.

Because I used a freebie digi stamp from PTI, I was going to submit this for the 2nd day anniversary challenge, but missed the deadline. Here's a close up of the free image.

Christmas Pointsettias

I've been trying to find some crafting time since we've returned from our mini vacation to Asheville, NC so I could participate in this week's challenge over at Merry Monday. I just love this sketch.

  Here's my interpretation.

The pointsettia is stamped in Autumn Rose and Scarlet Jewel. I used my Copics to color the gems.

I was hoping I would get this card done in time before the Inlinkz closed. Yeah! I made it. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.

MIM # 108 Inked Backgrounds

Found some time today to play along with PTI's MIM: Inked Backgrounds. Heather demonstrated how to create beautiful backgrounds using a variety of colors. I have always admired cards that had these backgrounds. Whenever I tried, mine looked horrible. Using a variety of hues with a main color and adding an accent seems to be the trick.

I basically used 3 shades of green for my background: Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse and  Peeled Paint. I was too chicken to add some pink for fear that I would mess up what I already had.

I love the way the roses turned out. The picture doesn't do them justice. I used Sweet Blush as a base, with Hibiscus Burst. The top layer was Orange Zest which I stamped off first to just give a touch of the orange.

Since it has been ages since I used my dress form die, I decided to add it to the card.

 The inside sentiment.

Banner Ghost

I'm still trying to catch up with posting all my Halloween cards/projects. Just couldn't get in the mood to upload my pictures and write my blog.
This is my favorite Halloween card I created this season. I just love all the colors and that cute little ghost! I ordered the Card Basic die when it first came out, but never used it. (Sound familiar?) The sentiment was stamped on the back.

The ghost is made from several strips cut from the double ended banner die. It was inspired by Marybeth of Marybeth's time for paper.  Check out her blog.

Sweet Life Birthday

Today was another gorgeous day here in Cincinnati; 80 degrees. I just love it! I've been taking advantage of it by walking at the park instead of the elliptical at the gym. The weatherman has promised a couple more days before we have a cool down.
Another birthday card to share. I initially made this card for my daughter's birthday. It is cased from Debbie Olsen's card.

Here's an up close shot of the roses.
My husband liked the simplicity of the card I made for my daughter's birthday so I sent this card to my niece who had a birthday earlier this month.

MIM # 86 Inside Edition

My participation in this week's MIM #86; The Inside Edition just fell into place. Since I am going to visit family in Arizona on Friday, I needed to make a house warming card for my niece who moved into her first house a couple of months ago.
The base of the card is Canyon Clay. It is perfect since she lives in the area around Sedona where the soil is this color.

Here is an up close shot of the wreath stamped in Kraft and which I fussy cut. The bird is from Canyon Clay felt. The sentiment from Wreath for all Seasons is stamped in Dark Chocolate. The buttons are Kraft.

In keeping with the spirit of the MIM challenge, I used the Celebration die and stamp set for the inside sentiment. Foam dots were used to prop it up a bit.  The house from Love Lives Here is cut using Dark Chocolate felt.
I still need to make a gift card holder to match this.
  Thanks for stopping by.

September Birthday #2 Quatrefoil

I was late jumping on the quatrefoil cover plate band wagon. When I finally caved and bought the die, it took another month or so for me to even use it. (Sound familiar?) This is the card I made for my daughter's birthday last month.

An up-close shot of the roses from The Sweet Life Stamp Set. I used Memento Pixie Dust, PTI's Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy to stamp the roses.

Thanks for taking a peek.

A Two Challenge Birthday Card

Another rarity for me; a card for two challenges. I had to make a birthday card for my daughter's niece, who turned 6 at the end of September. Usually I make a card based upon the theme of the party. Not knowing what it was, I geared it toward this week's MIM #85 and retrosketches #31 challenges.

 My card:

  I used Copics (BV31, BV02, YG23, YG93) to color the party images.

The double banner die was used as the glitter tabs. I used Glitter Ritz (Lilac, Silver and Kiwi Green). sorry for the blurred photo.

Added  the cut out from the Take Three die with the stamped candle image as part of the inside.

I still need a tag to go with the present. (Barbie Clothes)
